Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of the UpRoar app and uproarme.com. By creating an account you agree to them. We've tried to write them so you can actually read them.
Read this part even if you skip the rest. UpRoar is a consumer alarm app running on a phone you own, on an operating system we don't control. Do not rely on it alone where oversleeping would be dangerous or seriously costly. Keep a second alarm for anything that genuinely matters.
1. What UpRoar is
An alarm clock that requires you to complete one or more tasks before it stops, with optional demo settings, an optional squad, and a streak. It is not a medical device, not a sleep diagnostic, and not a substitute for advice from a doctor. If you consistently cannot wake despite adequate sleep, that is worth raising with a clinician rather than an app.
2. Alarms can fail, and Android is why
We build UpRoar to be as hard to silence as an Android app can be: exact alarms, re-arming after a restart before the phone is even unlocked, and a foreground service that survives the app being closed. It still depends on things outside our control — battery optimisation, manufacturer app-killers, a flat battery, a phone that's switched off, a permission you declined, or an operating system update that changes the rules.
We therefore can't and don't guarantee that an alarm will ring. You accept that risk when you use the app. Our troubleshooting guide covers the settings that cause nearly every failure, and the app checks them for you.
3. Your account
You need to be at least 13 to have an account. The current app has no real-money stakes. Give us an email address you actually control, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You're responsible for what happens under it.
4. Demo credits
Optional credits and related settings are a demonstration. Credits have no monetary value. Credits are not payments. UpRoar does not process withdrawals or transfer donations. New alarms default to zero credits and preserve your streak on snooze. Existing settings you chose may differ; review each alarm's preferences.
5. Free features, Premium and beta access
The alarm itself is free and stays free: setting alarms, every wake task (one per alarm), the setup check, the test alarm and the hold-to-stop. UpRoar Premium, when we offer it, adds depth: more than one task per alarm, Challenge difficulty, your own phrases and sounds, the Still up? check, more than one Big day at a time and your full history. The app shows exactly what Premium includes before you buy.
Buying on Google Play. In the Google Play version, Premium is sold by Google Play as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Google Play shows the price in your currency, including any tax it collects, before you confirm, and takes the payment. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel in the Play Store (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions); cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for. If an offer includes a free trial, you are charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then; Google Play shows the date. If a price changes, Google Play tells you first, following its own rules. Refunds follow Google Play's refund policies. "Lifetime" means for as long as we run UpRoar and offer those features, not for life. You don't need an UpRoar account to buy; the purchase belongs to the Google account on your phone.
Buying from our website version. The version downloaded from uproarme.com sells Premium through our payment provider's checkout, at the price shown before you pay. Subscriptions renew until you cancel; after cancelling you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
If Premium ends. Alarms you have already set keep ringing exactly as you saved them and can always be turned off. You can keep a saved alarm's Premium options; adding new ones needs Premium again.
During the reviewed Android beta, approved testers may activate complimentary access with their private invitation code and approved account email. Beta access is not a promise of permanent free access. When we end the program, active beta testers receive a fresh trial of the duration we announce; it begins when the program ends. Existing paid access is preserved. After the trial, you can choose a subscription. Ending beta does not charge you or start a paid subscription automatically. Keep a backup alarm while evaluating beta software.
Your subscription is for your own use; sharing an account to give others access is not allowed. Your statutory rights as a consumer, including any right to cancel or get a refund where you live, are not affected.
6. Squads
Squads offer shared wake progress, nudges and encouragement. Joining a squad makes the progress you share visible to its members. Automatic snooze updates are off for new alarms. Treat other members respectfully; harassment, threats and hate are not allowed. Do not post anything you would not want other members to keep.
7. Fair use
Don't try to defeat the anti-cheat, automate clearing your chain, script the API, resell access, or reverse-engineer the app to get around a paid feature. Beating your own alarm is between you and your morning; doing it in a way that corrupts other people's squad or shared progress is not.
8. Your content
What you write — your reason for the alarm, squad posts — stays yours. You give us permission to store and display it as needed to run the service, which for a squad post means showing it to your squad. That's the extent of it.
9. Ending it
You can delete your account at any time; see the privacy policy for what we remove. We can suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Demo credits are not money and cannot be withdrawn.
10. Liability
UpRoar is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss — a missed flight, a missed exam, a missed shift — arising from an alarm that didn't ring or a task you couldn't clear. Where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to what you paid us in the previous twelve months. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing here affects the statutory rights you have as a consumer.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you — particularly anything to do with demo credits, prices or subscriptions — we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect, not just by editing this page.
12. Governing law
To be completed with the operating entity's registered jurisdiction before public launch. Nothing in this clause removes your right to bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live.
